Palm Royale (2024_)
🎬In 1969, an ambitious woman aspires to cross the line between the haves and have-nots to secure her seat at America's most exclusive, fashionable and treacherous table: Palm Beach high society.
📝A completely pointless show with a turtle's pace. It is so slow that it barely gets to the point. Unless you have lots of time to kill, this is a complete waste of time. The outfits are lovely, but you can just look at the production stills and save time.

Ghostbusters (2016, Paul Feig)
28/11/2023
Ghostbusters is a 2016 film directed by Paul Feig.
The film marks the reboot of the series of the same name, with a new team of female Ghostbusters, played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
Abby Yates and Erin Gilbert are two theoretical physics scholar who together wrote a book in which they argue that paranormal phenomena, such as ghosts, really exist. Abby, Erin and Jillian witness the first physical manifestation of a ghost they have ever seen, filming it and posting the video on YouTube, which leads to Erin's immediate dismissal and her loss of all credibility as a scientist by the entire community university.
Abby, Erin and Jillian manage to capture the ghost with their proton packs and film the operation, but their footage is once again mocked by the Internet public. Patty decides to join the team, making herself useful as she knows New York city very well and provides the group with a vehicle, a repurposed Cadillac hearse borrowed from her uncle.
When Rowan plants one of the devices in a venue where a heavy metal concert is being held, the Ghostbusters are called in and capture the ghost in front of the audience.
During the credits, Patty listens to a recording of an encounter with a ghost and asks the other three Ghostbusters if they have ever heard of Zuul.
~ Abigail "Abby" Yates, played by Melissa McCarthy, is a scholar of the paranormal world, willing to do anything to prove her theories.
~ Erin Gilbert, played by Kristen Wiig, Abby's best friend, was nominated to become a professor at Columbia University, a job she lost after it was revealed she co-authored a book about ghosts with Yates.
~ Jillian Holtzmann, played by Kate McKinnon, is a nuclear engineer, rebellious and courageous.
~ Patricia "Patty" Tolan, played by Leslie Jones, is a New York subway employee.
~ Kevin Beckman, played by Chris Hemsworth, is the secretary of the Ghostbusters, a muscular and charming but extremely dumb and childish boy, who can't even answer the phone.
~ Rowan North, played by Neil Casey, the film's main antagonist, is a mad scientist who becomes a ghost and attempts to unleash an army of ghosts to destroy the city.
~ Bradley, played by Andy García, is the Mayor of New York.
The protagonists of the first two Ghostbusters films participate in the film in some cameos:
- Bill Murray, Dr. Martin Heiss, a debunker who doesn't belive in the paranormal;
- Dan Aykroyd, a taxi driver;
- Ernie Hudson, Bill Jenkins, Patty Tolan's uncle;
- Sigourney Weaver, Rebecca Gorin, Jillian Holtzmann's professor and mentor;
- Annie Potts, the receptionist at the Mercado Hotel.
Ozzy Osbourne, Al Roker, Pat Kiernan, Cheryl Wills, Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly also participate in the film, playing themselves.

The Looney Tunes Show holds a special place in my heart for how it revitalized the classic WB characters. While I grew up watching the beloved slapstick shorts, the show’s sitcom format appealed to me more as an adult, offering an opportunity to explore the personalities of Bugs and Daffy in more depth.
The series also completely reinvented Lola Bunny. In Space Jam, she was a bland, one-dimensional character with little to offer beyond a persona derivative of Jessica Rabbit and a stereotypically 90s tough gal attitude. But in The Looney Tunes Show, she was reimagined as a disturbed, delusional valley girl with a unique and compelling personality—one that made her not only my favorite version of Lola, but the only one I like.
The show portrayed Lola as an innocent, bubbly, almost childlike young woman, who gradually reveals herself to be a full-fledged psychopath, infamously obsessed with Bugs. The writers wisely leaned into this twist, blending the personality of a lovesick teenager with the intensity of a thriller villain—think Legally Blonde meets Fatal Attraction. This darker take on Lola was truly inspired, not only in the hilarious writing, but in Jessica Borutski's excellent redesign and Kristen Wiig's iconic performance. While Lola's unhinged antics were toned down in season two as Bugs started dating her, her psychotic distinctiveness remained intact.
When Rabbits Run was announced, with Lola as the protagonist, I was excited. The first two acts maintained some of the offbeat humor and kooky charm of her character from The Looney Tunes Show. Though I prefer Lola to be a more overtly unhinged character, I found the direction taken in Rabbits Run moderately entertaining, at least initially. As the film progresses, we see glimpses of her deranged side, though it’s often dialed down, leaning into the sweet, goofy gal she is on the surface.
The movie begins with a fun parody of Disney Renaissance I Want songs, where Lola trashes a perfume shop while singing about her dream to leave behind her mundane life and create a signature scent in Paris. Rachel Ramras is serviceable as Lola, but cannot match Kristen Wiig's acting range, nor her singing abilities. The plot escalates when it turns out that the flower used in her perfume gives her the power of invisibility, sparking a series of chase sequences between her and the government, inspired more by the Jason Bourne films than by WB's Roadrunner or Tweety shorts. Lola, oblivious to the perfume’s effects, believes rival artists want to steal her creation, setting off a madcap adventure with Bugs Bunny dragged into the chaos.
While the animation quality here falls short of the standard set by The Looney Tunes Show, there are larger issues. The film stumbles in its third act, where the pacing grinds to a halt. After a dramatic leap from a plane, Lola and Bugs are rescued by the Goofy Gophers, who give her a makeover during an unnecessary and distracting musical number. With only two songs in the film, both of which are placed at wildly different points, can we even call this a musical?
The segment, along with the sudden romance between Lola and Bugs, feels out of place. While the two characters do become a couple in The Looney Tunes Show, here their relationship feels rushed and underdeveloped. The film does little to justify their budding romance, while Lola's stalker tendencies and Bugs’ clear discomfort with her obsessive behavior are left unexplored.
By the time the narrative moves to Paris, Lola casts aside her artistic aspirations, leaving her without a clear objective. The film’s focus shifts to a short-lived sequence of Lola and Bugs dating in Paris, which doesn’t capitalize on the setting or their invisibility. This part of the story feels like a retread of The Looney Tunes Show’s Eligible Bachelors episode, but without the same comedic impact. As the film adds Marvin the Martian as a last-minute antagonist, it becomes clear that the plot has become a disjointed series of events rather than a cohesive narrative. The film's conclusion lacks any real resolution, leaving the audience with little sense of closure.
Rabbits Run is a difficult film to recommend. If you’re a die-hard fan of Lola's character from The Looney Tunes Show, you’ll find moments of joy in her antics, particularly in the first two acts. But if you haven’t watched the show, I’d advise starting there. The film falters in its structure and tone, playing it too safe with its characters and losing much of the quirky, unpredictable energy that made Lola’s earlier iteration so memorable.
That said, Rabbits Run is a lighthearted, kid-friendly adventure, with simple, straightforward humor that makes it accessible for younger audiences. But for adults who appreciated The Looney Tunes Show’s mature humor—drawing inspiration from sitcoms like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Seinfeld—the movie is bound to feel like a missed opportunity.
It’s especially disappointing that Rabbits Run may serve as the final bow for this unique version of Lola. In New Looney Tunes, she’s portrayed as little more than a derivative Bugs Bunny clone, and in Space Jam 2, she reverts to a bland, tokenized girlboss archetype. One can only hope that Kristen Wiig and Jessica Borutski will someday return to the character, with writers willing to lean back into the delightful, deranged qualities that made her so entertaining. Ideally, they could even explore Lola’s character further in a project aimed at adults—perhaps tapping into the dark, offbeat humor of The Cable Guy or the twisted, psychologically charged energy of Gone Girl.
While Rabbits Run isn’t the explosive send-off that this Lola deserves, it remains a serviceable, if flawed, film that younger viewers may enjoy.

If there was a Inside Out 3, what would it be like?
Tumblr media
(Poster Edit by Me/App on Android: PixelLab)
Like we already got how Sadness and Joy were lost in the first movie, than Anxiety taking control in the second film, I think I the third should be about Riley is ready to go to college next Thursday, and then, nine new emotions appear to take over Riley's mind, the names would be Love, Courage, Surprise, Pride, Trust, Suspicion, Frustration, Shaudenfreude, and the dark emotion himself, Spite. The nine emotions cannot handle it when Riley develops a new crush onto the new boy and that's where things get serious when Spite takes the eight new emotions in his control and uses Love to make Riley's crush into love madness.
As Spite gets rid of our nine heroic emotions out of their jobs, it's up to Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, Anger, Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment to save Headquarters and go through place to place in Riley's new developed mind, which is practically now a Mindtopia. And it means it'll be a lot more tricky.

Chapter Nineteen (Part 2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After we complete both films, we decide to watch something else. A non psychological thriller that perhaps, we won’t have to pretend to understand the plot this time.
“Let’s not get too confident about our intelligence.” Jen says as she polishes off her fifth beer, and we agree to find something light and fluffy for film three. We’ve finished all of the crisps by the end of the first film, and by the end of the second we’ve had almost all of the beers too, but it’s impossible not to want another Corona when your mouth is so salty yet you’re unable to stop grabbing for the snack bowl.
Tumblr media
It’s been a long time since I was drunk around Jude and Jen, since the music festival, the place where I think we all did and said things that we regret, but it’s different now. We’re all two years older, and the experience of being drunk with them is more fun than it is anxiety inducing. Jen becomes a louder version of herself, like Jen with an exclamation point, making comments at everything that happens on screen and doing this hilarious snort laugh that I’ve never heard her do before. Jude becomes a bit undone the more he drinks, a looseness coming over all of him as he laughs along with her with his arm and head lolling over her lap. Still, despite this I notice that he’s careful not to direct any physical attention towards me and keeps his hands very chastely to himself as if trying to deliberately disprove Jen’s claims about how he’s liable to put them on me. At one point we accidentally touch feet and he switches positions on the floor so that there is a full metre between us.
Tumblr media
After several minutes of aimlessly and tipsily messing around, we decide to watch something from Jen’s housemates DVD collection, Bridesmaids, a film none of us have seen yet, but have all heard it’s funny so it seems like the perfect remedy for our post-David-Lynch-film anxiety. At least, we agree, we’ll probably be able to understand what’s going on without googling it.
Tumblr media
Jude resorts to picking the smallest, most broken up crumbs from the bottom of the crisp bowl to eat as the opening credits roll, and Jen quickly snatches it from him. “I’ll get you more food if you want more food.” She giggles. “You’d swear you were being starved, Hang on.” And she leaves to go and fetch him something else from the kitchen cupboard. I snuggle back into the sofa and hold a cushion, feeling the same lovely, warm feeling I’ve come to enjoy so much from drinking. I can only see the silhouette of Jude’s head contrasted against the bright television screen, his neat little haircut, and for some reason I think it might be funny to jab my toe into the back of his neck in time with the drum beats of the Universal Pictures theme as it plays on screen. Letting my drunk, mischievous little demons win.
“Oi.” He protests, and reaches out to grab my ankle.
“Let go!” I cackle, trying to twist out of his grip but he’s a boy. He’s strong. He doesn’t let me go, and instead holds me steady so he can tickle the sole of my foot. I immediately start shrieking and writhing about trying to kick myself free. “Oh my god, stop!” I beg. “My feet are so ticklish.”
“This is what you get for poking your toes into my neck.”
“Jude!” With my free foot I shove his shoulder, but then he grabs that one too, and I’m left hopelessly giggling on the sofa when Jen returns with a bag of jellies.
Tumblr media
She smirks at us as she tosses them at his chest, and he has to release my ankles to catch them. “Are you enjoying the movie so far, lads?”
He rips open the bag and shushes her sharply. “Please, Jen, we’re trying to watch.” She plonks down on the sofa as the movie opens on a black screen, heavy breathing follows as we are thrown into a scene with Kristen Wiig and John Hamm in the throes of passion.
Tumblr media
“Ah Jesus.” Jen comments. “So classic, another one of these awful scenes.”
Jude offers me a jelly over his shoulder and I take one. A little red and yellow ring.
“Another one?” I query.
“Yeah sure we were just talking about this recently, me and Jude. The way Hollywood does sex scenes is always awful. It’s like,” She gestures to the screen. “It never looks normal, it’s always just played up for comedic effect, like, do you know what I mean?”
“Kinda, yeah.” I say. “But I never really thought about it.”
“It’s alright to show egregious violence on film but it’s not okay to show ordinary sex, like they think it’d be too awkward if they made it look enjoyable.”
“This is a comedy film though, no?”
“Yeah but I mean in general. It pisses me off.”
Tumblr media
“Hm. I suppose.” I bite my jelly ring in half as John Hamm does a ridiculous cross eyed face on the bed. “Like, they always make it seem like those women are having the time of their lives. She can’t be enjoying that.”
“No. I agree. Not with those moves.”
I laugh, feeling pleased to be genuinely qualified to participate in a conversation like this now that I’m miraculously not a virgin anymore. I attempt to say something a little bolder. “Right! Because like, it’s not that good, like it’s always a bit shit, they try to make it seem good on TV but it’s just not true.”
“Maybe, I dunno, I honestly wouldn’t know what it’s like for straight girls.”
“Not as good as everyone wants you to think it is.”
“Isn’t the whole thing about it that it’s meant to be nice?”
I shrug. “It’s fine.”
Tumblr media
A laugh bursts out of her “Alright Evie.” She says, giving me a little incredulous side eye at the same time. “Who is it that’s been giving you a shite time?”
I feel my face flush, but try to laugh off my embarrassment. “No! It’s like, it’s okay, but it’s not amazing is it? The literal sex is the part you just kind of… do it… do it for them, right?”
“Hmm… I don’t know if I’m exactly qualified to answer that.” She rakes her fingers into the top of Jude’s hair and gently pulls his head back so he’s looking up at her. “Judey, what do you think?”
“What do I think?” He repeats, his Adam’s apple visible under the taut skin of his throat.
“Do you think girls are supposed to like sex?”
He laughs. “I wouldn’t know, I’ve never done it”
I feel as though I have to think extra hard to block any images from my mind at that moment that would allow me to think of him in ways that I’m certainly not supposed to. The existence of thoughts like these irritate me, like they just come on me without me meaning to, without me wanting them. I should be over this by now and yet…
Tumblr media
Jen leans her head on her hand and regards me with a sly smile. “So who was it?”
“Who was who?”
“The unfortunate fella who’s awful in bed. Who was he?”
“Jen, so nosy.” Scolds Jude.
“Oh come on, we’re all friends here.” She protests. “It wasn’t that Slim Shady looking fecker from your birthday party was it?” She’s grinning because she’s sure it isn’t, because to her the idea of me sleeping with someone like Dean is hilarious, something that would be a bit embarrassing for me to do, and once again I feel looked down upon and judged for my choices.
Tumblr media
“So?” I say defensively.
“Wait.” She says, touching Jude’s shoulder. “Was this the same guy who ripped that empty baggie of coke open in front of you and licked out the residue on the inside?”
“I…” He hesitates, eyes flashing briefly to mine. “I didn’t tell her that part.”
Jen covers her mouth. “Oh no!”
“It’s okay.” I say neutrally. “I don’t mind that, it’s fine.”
“Oh god, sorry.” She says, reaching out to touch my arm. “You’re not a thing though, right? Like surely it was just a kind of a fling thing, or?”
Tumblr media
I sigh and glance away.
“Ah you’re not going out with him.” She insists. “Hardly, with Aldi Eminem.”
I catch a smile cracking through on Jude’s face then, and his head drops down as he tries to disguise his laugh, and that’s it. I’ve had enough of being laughed at, no,  mocked by these two. I announce I’m going to the toilet and get up from the couch to walk away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Oh, wait, Evie! I’m so sorry!” Jen calls after me, but I don’t look back. “Oh, it’s okay, Jen, don’t worry about it.”
Then once I’m in the bathroom I stare at my reflection, my shoulders heaving with each breath, my hot hands clinging to the sides of the porcelain sink so tightly that I know my knuckles must be white. Not only am I angry, I’m also fairly drunk. Not really a recipe for success. I try to take deep, meditative breaths but my furious thoughts keep on erupting through. How dare they. I think. They don’t even know him like I do. How can they just sit there and laugh at him to my face like I’m stupid for liking him. Do they think I’m stupid? Are the things I do just a big joke to them?
It’s several minutes before I calm down a little bit, but still, the thing that rings most certain to me is that I no longer want to be here. I think about getting my bag and leaving, hoping maybe the long walk home will clear my head a bit. I can’t imagine anything worse than sleeping here, and then I open the door, and Jude is standing there, and I know there’s about to be a catastrophe.
Tumblr media
“Evie.” He says. “Are you alright? I’m sorry.”
I close the door behind me and step out into the kitchen with him, aware that Jen is still sitting in the other room so I will have to speak quietly. “It’s fine.”
“It’s not like I was laughing at you, I’d never, it’s just that thing she said took me off guard.”
“It’s okay, I get it, like, it’s really funny that I’m seeing Dean, right?”
He sighs. “No, it’s not funny…”
Tumblr media
“But what?” I prompt, because he looks like he’s struggling with whatever he really wants to say about it.
“I’m just surprised by it.” He blurts out. “Why that guy?”
“Why him?”
“Yeah.”
“Why anybody? Why does it matter to you?”
His eyes slide over towards Jen on the couch, the dialogue in Bridesmaids louder than the volume at which we’re speaking to each other, but still, he’s hesitant to say another word. He reaches for the handle of Jen’s bedroom door and opens it. “Can we just talk about this in here for a minute?”
Tumblr media
I shrug. “Yeah, whatever.” And I step inside the room ahead of him and flip on the light. The rain is hammering against the window now as the skies have split open and unleashed something like an apocalyptic rainstorm. Sheets of water are sloshing down the glass, each wet streak glowing with the city lights outside.
Standing across from him with my arms crossed, I repeat my question to him as he shuts the door. “So? Why does it matter to you?”
He grimaces. “Isn’t he a bit of a weirdo?”
“No.”
“No?”
“You don’t know him.”
“You’re right, but I met him, and he freaked me the fuck out. There was absolutely nothing behind his eyes.”
“He was high, Jude, what do you expect?”
Tumblr media
“It wasn’t only that though, he just gave me the creeps. His vibe was so off. Didn’t you ever feel it?”
“No.”
“Don’t be angry with me, I’m just-”
“What is it with you?” I demand. “Why do you get so involved in my life in this way?”
He pauses. “What do you mean?”
“I just want you to tell me why you care so much about who I go to bed with, or who I even choose to date, as if it’s any of your business, or actually, as if it even affects your life one tiny little bit.”
“It-”
“Actually, you’re being exactly the same way about Dean as you were about Liam.”
He blinks. “Liam?”
Tumblr media
“Yes! For some weird reason you hated that I liked Liam. You were so horrible about him right from the start, like when you told me that stupid story about giving him fake weed, and made me feel embarrassed about fancying him, and the way you always talked about him like he was a total loser. Like, for what? What was the purpose of that? Just to poke your fingers around in someone else’s happiness and ruin it for fun?”
He looks incredulous. “Happiness? Come on, you didn’t fancy Liam.”
“I did!”
“You did not.” He insists, eyes wide. “He made you physically cringe! It was so obvious. Every time you were together and he put his hands on you you made this face like you’d touched wet food in the bottom of the sink. You were embarrassed to be around him long before I even told you that story.”
Tumblr media
“I wasn’t, you got in the way! And now you’re trying to do the same thing with me and Dean. You can’t just back off and let me do what I want to do. And for what reason? It’s like, it’s not even like you have a clear motive. To me it just seems like you really like putting other guys down so that you come out looking better than them every time.”
“Fine, I was mean to Liam, and I regret that. We were fifteen when we gave him the fake joint, we were stupid children, but I’ve grown up since then. I never consciously drove a rift between you two, I don’t know, maybe he pissed me off a bit. Maybe I was jealous of him, but honestly I can’t really remember what I was thinking about that summer, I was a mess. But you didn’t fancy him, I’ll die on this hill.”
“You don’t know what I was thinking. He’s a nice person and I hurt him because of you.”
“Evie, Liam is fine. No doubt he hardly even remembers this. If it was because of me then it was because you let me ruin it. Subconsciously you wanted me to.”
I scoff. “Hardly. As if you were around us enough times to read all of that from us anyway.”
Tumblr media
“Anyone can tell when a girl isn’t feeling it. I bet he knew it too.”
I hesitate. Liam did know. It was the whole reason for his frustration at me.
“Look, this isn’t about Liam. I don’t want to talk about him.” He says, and takes a deep breath. “But Dean…”
I stare at him warningly. “Dean is none of your business.”
Tumblr media
“No… I know, I just can’t explain the feeling I get around him, and the feeling I get from you. Something about it feels bad.”
“So you’re trying to ruin it based on, what, a vibe?”
“I am not trying to ruin it.”
“I don’t understand why you keep insisting on making things so hard for me. Let me date a bloody boy, who cares? Your life will be so unbelievably unaffected by this, just go back to Berlin and live your life and stop thinking so hard about mine.”
“I don’t want to stop thinking about yours, I care about you.”
Tumblr media
I stand there staring at him, hands dropping to my sides and clenching into fists. My inbreath quivers with fury. “I am still so angry with you.” I say quietly.
His face collapses in on itself a little bit, his inner eyebrows shooting up to create this desperately sad expression. “Why?”
I say nothing, he already knows why.
“If all this is about how I lost touch with you when I moved-”
Tumblr media
“You didn’t even try to keep up with me. You gave me half hearted emails for like, three months, and even then your responses were so sporadic that you might as well have not bothered. So much for all that stuff you said to me at the festival about how you wanted to keep on knowing me, when actually, you didn’t care at all.”
“Of course I cared. I’m here now, I still care.”
“No, you know, I think you were messing with me the whole time. I think it was all about an ego boost for you, you wanted to mess around with my feelings, see what would happen if you flirted enough with the most naïve girl on the beach, break up her summer fling and see if you could get her to like you, just to prove that you could.”
“What?”
Tumblr media
“And you’re still trying to do it, even now that you live in a different country you can’t surrender any control over my choices. You still see me that way, don’t you? Do you think it’s funny or something? Nobody else is allowed to have me, but you don’t want me either. You just want someone fawning after you and following you around and telling you how great you are. If you cared about me you’d have been here the whole time but you weren’t. You couldn’t even check in on me once, and I’m still angry about it. You just ran away and left me here on my own.” My words, and the ferocity of them make him flinch. For the first time since we’ve started arguing I feel like I’ve maybe been too harsh, but I believe in the validity of what I’ve said.
“I showed up to that going away party because I thought you’d want to say goodbye to me.” I continue. “But actually, I had a horrible, awkward night where you barely spoke to me, and instead made googly eyes at your ex. Then you didn’t even wake me up to have that breakfast you promised me.”
Tumblr media
“What was I meant to do?” He says, sounding defeated. “Walk into the room and shake you awake? I hated the idea of invading your privacy like that, and I thought maybe you just wanted to sleep on, like, I don’t know, maybe you didn’t want to say goodbye to me after all.”
“Of course I did, it’s the thing I wanted most, couldn’t you tell?”
“I wanted you there that night.” He says, dark eyes wounded. “I had a different idea of that party in my head, but I felt so detached when you got there and it just got worse as the night went on. I don’t remember what I was thinking. I wasn’t sure of the right way to process what I was feeling.” His hand comes to his hair and messes up the front. “And, by the way, I don’t really know what you mean about Michelle. We broke up for a good reason and-”
“The way you were looking at her-”
“Okay, but between Michelle and you there was no competition.”
Tumblr media
There’s a long, heavy pause between us then, and I feel my palms prickle, heart spurring in my chest. I draw my words out slowly. “What do you mean?”
Tumblr media
“I mean it would have been you, every time. A million times.”
Tumblr media
And I watch him. There’s something vulnerable and unguarded about him in that moment, his eyes darting anxiously across my face, his lips parted as though he has more to tell me, but then in an instant that look is gone, replaced by a line between his eyebrows. “It’s not a good idea to have this conversation.” He says decisively. “This old stuff, it’s not really worth revisiting.”
“Yeah, let’s not bother.” I say. “It’s not like it’s important.”
“Right.”
I swallow hard. “So with Dean, you don’t like that I’m with him because you think he’s a bad influence.”
He nods.
“Not because of any other reason.”
“I…” He trails off.
“Not because you want to sabotage another one of my romantic relationships out of jealousy.”
Tumblr media
“Evie, it’s not… I can’t. I’m in love with somebody else, Astrid means the world to me, and it’s not fair of me to delve back into all that messy, teenage stuff with you. I don’t want to say anything else to you that I feel I can’t be honest with her about.”
“Right.”
“We’re friends, I don’t want to jeopardise that. I don’t want to make it complicated.”

D - better actor or musician?
Oohh, I assume you mean Darren Criss?
This is a hard question because I have pros and cons for each?
I will say, off the bat, that the best thing Darren does is be an overall performer. Darren has this kind of charisma that draws you in - and regardless of what he's doing on stage (or on screen) he has the ability to kind of make you watch him. (Seeing him live, I can say this is more prominent in person, actually.) And that's a real skill. The ability to draw focus and have it all be on you... he's really quite captivating.
Is he a good actor? Mostly, yes. So, the first problem is that he doesn't have a whole lot of screen credits to his name and a lot of the stuff he's done isn't that great of quality in the first place. That Kristen Wiig movie and that Italian thing? I can't judge his acting cause those projects weren't good in the first place.
I think it takes him a little while to grow into Blaine -- but there are moments on Glee that he just downright is amazing. That scene of Teenage Dream Acoustic? It's perfection - and one of the best acting moments on the show. He's also pretty skilled at comedy - and can deliver some great stuff really well.
Also, I think the Versace mini he did pretty well, too. I can't say that I was 100% convinced by him playing a serial killer (not the way Evan Peters downright terrifies me in just about any role). But the last few episodes (again when he had the most time to settle into the role) he was amazing, and I do think he deserved the Emmy for it.
Is he a good musician? This is a little harder? He understands music very well. I think he writes music very well. I think he talks about and listens to music intelligently, and I always love hearing him discuss it, because he knows what he's doing.
I think, though, he's slightly limited as a vocal performer - as he's said himself, his range is limited, and he has a tendency to be out of tune or forget the lyrics or isn't always on par with greats. But I think (as I said above) his charisma and stage presence make up for what his vocal ability sometimes lacks.
That said - I do love the sound of his voice, and I think the charm he often adds into his own music (especially his acoustic stuff) makes up for his vocal limitations.
So, yeah, I don't know if I can make a decision one way or the other. I would like to see him act in more quality projects, and I do think he continues to grow as a musician, so either way, I'm good. :)

Xover Possibility: Scooby-Universal-Doo
This is a limited crossover series I'm now considering.
Scooby and the gang have teamed up with several celebrities and a few famous characters in taking down ghosts and solving mysteries under WB's commission, but let's see what happens if they end up in the Universal Pictures cyber universe and end up doing…well, pretty much the same formula, except with versions of the Universal animated characters.
Here are some possibilities I thought up.
Franchise: Despicable Me Characters teamed up with: Felonious Gru, Lucy Wilde, and three of the Minions Type of monster/ghost: Chronology: before Despicable Me 3 or Despicable Me 4 Guest Voices: Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Steve Coogan, and Pierre Coffin Chase scene song: "Chuck Berry" by Pharrell Williams (from Despicable Me 3)
Franchise: the Lorax Characters teamed up with: Ted Wiggins, Audrey, and the Lorax (whom Mystery Inc believes is a mascot) Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: Michael Cera, Ashleigh Ball, Danny DeVito and Chris Renaud Chase scene song: n/a
Franchise: the Secret Life of Pets Characters teamed up with: Katie, Max, Duke, Gidget, and Snowball Type of monster/ghost: Note: The pets will be able to communicate thanks to a translation device Gru briefly lets the gang borrow Guest Voices: Patton Oswalt, Eric Stonestreet, a Kevin Hart soundalike, Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper, and Lori Alan Chase scene song:
Franchise: the Road to El Dorado Characters teamed up with: Modern-day lookalike descendants of Miguel, Tulio and Chel with the same names Type of monster/ghost: Stone Jaguar Guest Voices: Kevin Kline, a Kenneth Branagh soundalike, and Rosie Perez Chase scene song: n/a
Franchise: Shrek/Puss in Boots Characters teamed up with: Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: ??? Chase scene song: ?
Franchise: Wallace & Gromit Characters teamed up with: Wallace & Gromit Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: ??? Chase scene song: a UK rock band song
Franchise: Kung Fu Panda Characters teamed up with: "furry cosplayers" Po and the Furious Five (minus Mantis) Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: Jack Black, Kari Wahlgren, David Cross, Lucy Liu, and a Jackie Chan soundalike Chase scene song: Dumpling Warrior Remix (instrumental) from Kung Fu Panda 2
Franchise: Megamind Characters teamed up with: Megamind, Minion, and Roxanne Ritchi Type of monster/ghost: Note: Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate and its TV series would be ignored Guest Voices: Keith Ferguson, David Cross, and Tina Fey Chase scene song: "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osborne
Franchise: Mr. Peabody & Sherman Characters teamed up with: Who else? Mr. Peabody and Sherman Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: Chris Parnell and a male child actor Chase scene song: "Way Back When" by Grizzfolk
Franchise: Rocky & Bullwinkle Characters teamed up with: Rocket J. Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: Kath Soucie, Tom Kenny, and any voice from the 2018 cartoon Chase scene song: ?
Franchise: Captain Underpants Characters teamed up with: George Beard, Harold Hutchins, and a reluctant Benjamin Krupp/Captain Underpants Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: Jay Gragnani, Ramone Hamilton, Jorge Diaz, and either Nat Faxon or Ed Helms Chase scene song: "Captain Underpants" by Weird Al Yankovic
Franchise: the Bad Guys Characters teamed up with: the Bad Guys Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: Sam Rockwell, Awkwafina, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Anthony Ramos, Alex Borstein, and Lily Singh Chase scene song: ?
Franchise: Ruby Gillman Characters teamed up with: Ruby and Agatha Gillman Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: Lana Condor, Toni Collette, Colman Domingo, Sam Richardson, Blue Chapman, Jaboukie White-Young, and Will Forte Chase scene song: n/a
Franchise: Mario Characters teamed up with: Mario and Luigi Type of monster/ghost: Bowser Koopa Guest Voices: Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Jessica Diciccio, and Sebastian Maniscalo Chase scene song: Mario video game music
Franchise: Curious George Characters teamed up with: Curious George and Ted the Man in the Yellow Hat Type of monster/ghost: Guest Voices: Jeff Bennett, Bill Chott, and Rolonda Watts Chase scene song: n/a
I'm not absolutely certain I'll do this, as I'm already committed to other things. In fact, I might give this series idea to someone more qualified to write crossover mysteries. But still, if anyone would like to suggest types of monsters or ghosts Mystery Inc and their new co-detectives would be facing, I could try to think of the episode plots for them. Also, don't suggest the villains' identities unless through private note, otherwise it would kill the mystery.

Matt Damon in The Martian (Ridley Scott, 2015)
Cast: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain,  Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña, Sean Bean, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Won, Mackenzie Davis, Donald Glover. Screenplay: Drew Goddard, based on a novel by Andy Wier. Cinematography: Dariusz Wolski. Production design: Arthur Max. Film editing: Pietro Scalia. Music: Harry Gregson-Williams.
Andy Weir's best-selling science fiction novel was one of the few that manage to emphasize science almost as much as fiction. The film version, being aimed at a somewhat less cerebral audience, doesn't quite keep that balance, but Drew Goddard's screenplay is an admirable effort to keep up with protagonist Mark Watney's (Matt Damon) determination to "science the shit out of" the problem of surviving after he has been marooned on Mars. And in an age when science has fallen afoul of politics, The Martian nobly attempts to bring some luster to this essential human endeavor. There is also a political undercurrent in the film, namely the hurdles that NASA administrator Teddy Sanders (Jeff Daniels) has to leap in order to achieve the rescue of his stranded astronaut. It's gratifying, too, to see so many actors of color -- Michael Peña, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Donald Glover, among others -- given key roles in the effort to rescue Watney, all of them allotted parts emphasizing their skill and intelligence. On the other hand, there were protests that the ethnicity of some of the characters in the film had been changed. In the novel, for example, the mission director is called Venkat Kapoor, and he is a Hindu. His first name is changed in the film to Vincent, and he's played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, the British actor whose parents were born in Nigeria -- the change is signaled by an explanation that his father was Hindu and his mother was a Baptist. One reason for such protests is that director Scott's previous film was Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014), in which all of the Egyptian and Middle Eastern characters were played by white actors like Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton, a continuation of an old Hollywood tradition that increasingly seems wrong-headed. Fortunately, in The Martian Scott kept the novel's prominent female roles, including mission commander Melissa Lewis (Jessica Chastain) and astronaut Beth Johanssen (Kate Mara).

There’s another element to our relationship I just thought of. I was watching a clip or Kristen wiig(g?) and bill Hader they were singing together in a very cute and magnetic way and I feel like I haven’t been able to do that with Jake. I know we can and we have and maybe it’s later if things but I get sad when I see connections in other people I’m it especially in music. I have always wanted to be able to belt it lose myself in music with Jake and we haven’t been able to do that. And that makes me sad

hi, and welcome back to another episode of trailer music, today's topic, Ronald Reagan. i didn't watch the traielr when it came out, because of course i didn't, then i saw headline yesterday saying Bob Dylana nd Gene Simmons were contributing songs, so let's see the trailer. 1
huh, this lyric's familiar...
oh
it's Tears For Fears' classic 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' off their sophomore album 'Songs from the Big Chair' released 1985. and, yet again, they can fuck right off.
it feels like it makes sense for them to use it, a prevaling image of Reagan is the 'tear down this wall', which is even the last shot of the trailer. and allegedly, according to the video description, it's about how he was 'sustained by the love of a woman who supported him in his journey'. so a lyric like
'Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down' 2
would be big for them. and guess what
they don't even play that bit of the song.
and general lyrics abot freedom, liberty, and;
i can't stand this indecision married with a lack of vision
which you could use over the footage of Carter in the trailer, to try and play up his percieved faults, that he 'was hapless, was feeble, was someone who could be taken down by a rabbit' 3
and my favourite segment, reading comments.
there's a number of comments quoting back to the future
someone compared it to 'The Iron Lady', with a response to that calling Thatcherism based.
people saying it looks like an SNL parody trailer, which, i guess it does
people going 'oh boy, i hope it shows the Iran-Contra affair', which i can't comment on, because i don't remember what happened.
people in both the trailer comments and lyric comments saying 'ooh, ooh Skibidi toilet.' and i have no idea
and finally a couple of people saying that a guy from Creed is playing Sinatra in this movie. thankfully Sammy Davis Jr. will be played by Scarlett Johansson 4
i just really like the song, and am disappointed again.

The babe with the power.
HI!
we're back inside the studio. literally, inside of it. and so far, it couldn't be any better! day #2 and we're nearly finished tracking the whole 1st song musically... tonight it'll be my turn to crank out some SICK VOXXXXX. i'm just a little excited. like clockwork, my allergies are ridiculous right now and my vocal cords are being total jerks. it's alright though cause i fed them some watermelon juice and kale earlier. i could tell that made 'em smile. ew, look at me talking about my insides like they're people. it's like when guys name their weiners. just no.
well, i just figured i'd give you guys an update on where we're at with the songs, life in general, and also tell you how amazing the movie Paul is. (it's amazing). (kristen wiig is so funny). that's really all i have to say about Paul. as far as music goes, we're hoping to record 3 songs while we're out here in California. the original plan was to record just 2 but seeing as though we're moving pretty quickly, we may get luckier than that. i guess we'll let you know when we figure it out! being out here is totally inspiring though. i remember when we showed up for the first time 2 years ago. within the first hour of actually pulling up to Rob's we were already working on "Careful". this place just has an electricity for us. and honestly, all it is is a studio inside of a garage. i mean, it's a nice garage but... hey.
i guess the only thing we can say that won't have you completely stoked out of your skull is that we are rethinking the idea of releasing these songs in EP form. for a few reasons which, of course, will be explained. we've obviously been through a hell of a lot in the past however many months it's been... so it probably won't come as any surprise to you when i say that i've written a lot of lyrics having to do with the whole situation. one you've already heard, ("in the mourning") and quite a few others, some of which would never be paramore songs but were more just my way of venting and getting over everything. the 2nd song we're recording and the 3rd one that we're hoping to get done also have the same subject matter. and really, we just don't want to put out a full product that sounds like a concept record about yet another difficult period in our bands life. it really is time to move on. with that being said, we want to give you all some new music. honestly, we want to give ourselves some new music too. geeeezzzz. so we're working out how exactly to release everything... but so far it just seems like we spoke a little too soon about the whole EP thing. sorry :/ we were kind of excited. you will still be getting new songs though! and we think you guys are gonna really like them.
hopefully the whole thing makes sense. if not, i guess i could try to explain it in non-hayley-rambling-forever form, which would probably go like this: shit happens. if we put out another full product about our band woes then this will just keep going on forever and ever. after we put out the few songs that we're recording, we never want to talk about it again. not in interviews, not in songs, nothing.
phew. that felt good!
now that we're past the serious business can i just say that i'm SO freaking proud of the dudes. taylor has clearly had a lot on his plate getting ready for this little series of songs we're recording. killing the drums, writing great guitar parts; etc. jeremy has this insane bass tone that he and riley (bass tech to the stars, also of Conditions fame) have been working on. working together has been good, you know? i feel inspired and motivated by all the changes we've gone through. and the friendships between the 3 of us feel like they've  been dusted off, new again. i'm proud of what i've written lyrically - even though it's not something i want to harp on forever. i feel like it's the stepping stone, though, to wherever it is that we're going next. that in itself is so exciting it literally hurts. the year ahead of us couldn't possibly be anything less than incredible.
and lastly, i think i just need to brace myself. from here and now until whatever really happens next for us... i can feel that we're on the brink of so much growth. for myself, personally, i just know i'm gonna look back a year from now and realize all that i've learned. but that's enough about me, do you feel it too?
think it's time to eat. i can hear the guys getting excited about something, so it's either food, girls, or someone farted.
L O L
love you guys so much, hayley
ps, didn't proofread this so i'm sorry if there's a ton of mistakes. (besides the usual non-capitalization thing)
